- Chicken
- Yogurt
- Fried onions
- Tomato puree
- Ginger Garlic Paste
- Ground spices (red chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala)

- Fat & Dairy products
- Basmati rice
- 1 to 2 bay leaves
- 10 to 12 green cardamoms
- 2 piece cinnamon
- 1 black cardamom
- 1½ teaspoon fennel seeds
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 cloves
- 1 tsp caraway seeds (shahijeera, sub with cumin)
- 2 strands of mace (I use half of a small mace, it may be strong for others)
- 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Steps to make the Chicken Biryani
Whenever, you make the chicken biryani or any form of rice recipe, you always have to follow certain steps. And it is necessary for you to follow in order to get the best taste. Now, let’s get to know the steps that you have to follow while the chicken biryani. And these are mentioned here as follows:
- The first and the foremost thing that you have to do is wash the basmati rice properly and then keep them soaked into water for approximately 15 minutes.
- Then you have to marinate the chicken by adding the lemon juice, yogurt, chilli powder, garam masala ginger garlic paste and ½ tsp salt.
- Once you marinate the chicken, then you have to leave it for an hour.
- Then take a pan and put some oil or ghee. Let it heated. After that you have to add all the spices into it with onions and tomatoes. Then sauté it till its color changes to golden brown.
- Then you have to add the marinated chicken into the pain and mix it well. So that the flavor of spices gets into it.
- After that you have to lower the gas flame and keep it closed with the lid and let it gets cooked until it get softens.
- Once the chickens get soft, then you have to add the rice and also add some water. You must have to remember one thing that the quantity of water should be double of the quantity of rice. Like you take 1 cup of rice, then the water should be 2 cups.
- Again keep it on low flame and let it cooked until the water gets soaked complete.
- Once you see the water is soaked, and then you have to turn off the gas flame.
- Now your chicken biryani is ready to eat you can serve it with some garnishing.
